Looking for information into the ancestry of and descendants of Stephen Augustus CORNISH and his son John M.CORNISH. It is my understanding that John was born October 6,1852,in Ohio and had a sister named Julia Ann CORNISH. He married Cynthia (Clara) BARTON on May 7,1874 in Millersburg,Elkhart County,Indiana. From this union were two living sons, Stephen and John H.. Clara passed away during childbirth in 1880.John M then remarried to a Clara M.PISEL. From this marriage, five daughters,Clara,Emma,Effie,Amey,Esther and six sons,Newton,Nathan, William,Amos, infant son,and Michael were born. Of particular interest to me is Stephen Jarius Augustus Walsh CORNISH, who is my grandfather. He married a Florence Almedia Whitehill Stewart. From this union of Stephen and Flora, eight children were born, sons John,Guylus Lester, Ernest,Stephen, George and Robert,daughters Cynthia and Francis. Flora passed away in 1933 and Stephen married Nora Elizabeth(Linville) and added stepchildren Alfred,Irene and Jessie Bolton, who were adopted by Stephen.
On my maternal side I'm looking for information into the ancestry and descendants of James COGHLAN married to a Peggy WATSON. From this union, children Isaac W.,Daniel,and James H. COGHLAN were born. Of particular interest to me is Isaac W COGHLAN who was married three times :1st to Phebe WATKINS, 2nd to Mary FORD,and lastly to Lydia EASTON. Isaac and Lydia had the following children : Joseph, Charles,General McClellan,Mary M.,Daniel, and Gideon. General McClellan COGHLAN, my ggrandfather was married to Mary Emaline Sanders and their son Arnold Edgar COGHLAN(my grandfather) was born October 11,1891 in Powesheik County Iowa, settled in Dallas and Madison County Iowa.It is my understanding that Arnold married a Frona Belle LILLEY. Her father was Dr. William Lincoln LILLEY who was married to Rosa Belle WEAVER. From Arnold and Frona six children were born. Five sons Curtis, Lowell,Marion,Edgar,Maurice and a daughter Rosemary.
Hence my journey begins.......
